I have so many thoughts now that I have watched it while knowing the plot already. I know these opinions are all popular, so bear with me if you will. The country mouse and the city mouse. Makima's story of killing the country mice in the end while she killed Reze who wanted to be a country mouse was so well executed. Denji saying "Everybody wants Pochita, nobody wants him." Him wanting a normal life and be grateful to get 3 meals and have fun. Everything is analogous to certain beliefs in the real world. He's a character who's looked down upon by the society, everyone makes fun of him, female manga readers call him incel for his behavior towards women, but makes you wonder, he's the real one who knows how to be satisfied in life through simple things and he is true to himself. Fujimoto is such a genius. You know, there's a popular belief that certain people are born and destined to master and achieve certain things in life. Manga is that certain thing for Fujimoto. He was born for this stuff. Reze's backstory is equally painful and realistic. Child traffickers, people who brainwash kids to join terrorist groups, pedophiles and so many other psychopaths are committing such heinous crimes even at this moment. Denji didn't ever get to know that Reze did try to go meet him again and run away together. So close yet so far. It's just so poetic and beautiful. The animation is so good, it felt even better watching on my pc, even though the sound was lack luster compared to the theatres. I despise MAPPA as a company, but, man, they have some insanely talented artists. Genuinely wish they got paid what they deserve.
