The common assumption with people is that it's silly to want to change the past, but I disagree. Imagine a life where you took that one opportunity you didn't initially, imagine you passed a school assignment you were given all those years ago, imagine you prevented someone you love from dying. Obviously we can't always get what we want, but it's addicting to imagine how things could have been.

And once you're done fantasizing and fulfilling your make-believe events, you no longer have energy to actually make better actions. It starts the limbo of inaction, and unfulfillment.
It's not stupid if you're thinking of how to do things differently in the future. If you're limiting yourself to imagining an alternate past, like a regression story, then I would agree with others that it will be a waste of time.
